Sorry George! Women want men with stubble not beards
Showing off their bearded beauties at the Oscars, the likes of George Clooney and Ben Affleck might fall short in the eyes of the British woman, as research reveals a bit of a stubble is more desirable.
A study looking into what women find attractive discovered that ladies put a stubbly stud over full beards or clean shaved men.
The reasons why are a bit fuzzy but human evolution experts say that facial hair is a sign of aggression as it boosts the size of the lower jaw and teeth.
Psychologists at Northumbria University speculated that stubby chaps show they are strong and masculine, without being threatening. But they have the potential to grow a big bushy beard should the need arise.
Clean shaved men were seen to be sexually immature and less dominant.
The research altered the appearance of men’s faces to have different levels of facial hair and then women were asked to rate them on masculinity, aggression, attractiveness and social maturity.
The women of Britain also found that bearded men looked five years older than their clean shaved counterparts. Time to get the old razor out of hibernation then George.
